It’s especially great where you’ve broken your cloud modernization and migration initiative into smaller projects such as a single department or affinity groups.
CLOUD NEWS
- Salesforce reaches Net Zero energy usage, announces updates to Sustainability Cloud - There’s hope for the future yet! Salesforce has hit 100% renewable energy for their entire value chain, and they’re not stopping there. They’ve also updated their Sustainability Cloud, their product that helps organizations manage their climate initiatives, making us think they’re gunning for sainthood, too.
- Amazon’s cloud unit to create data centres, 1,000 jobs in New Zealand - This island is about to get more connected, with AWS adding more data centres and expanding for the first time since they opened up shop there in 2014. Move over Hobbits…
- Microsoft wants cloud computing to reshape natural disaster modeling, but challenges remain - One day, Azure’s AI for Earth program vows to use it’s “planetary computer” to manage Earth’s ecosystems. That said, the pain points seem to be with reconciling the two disciplines of scientists and AI researchers. Not to mention dealing with the fickleness of weather prediction.
- Chicago hospital uses Amazon’s HealthLake to tear down data silos and build a coherent patient history - Healthcare is getting good. Rush University Medical Center in Chicago beta- tested AWS HealthLake last year to track COVID-19 cases, and through cloud compute, natural language processing and ontology mapping, were able to transform their data into something they could streamline for patient care.
- Google Cloud rolls out new storage products for better data protection - And the good news keeps coming. Google announces new storage products, Filestore Enterprise and Backup for Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), as well as dual-region bucket selection for developers with a mind for security (hopefully all developers).
